The endbay of this building is used by the American ExpressCompany, and at the opposite end the regular baggageroom is located in a space 30 ft. x 45 ft. Here a 1000-lb. automatic scale is installed. The company does nothandle any baggage on its passenger trains; all baggageis delivered to the outbound freight house and is loadedinto express cars. The inbound freight house, which is 15 ft. wider than. CEDAR PALLS & NORTHERN RAILWAY the outbound freight house, is in practically all otherrespects a duplicate of the outbound building. It isalso equipped with a monorail hoisting system, oppositethat in the outbound freight house. Two automatic4000 lb. scales are conveniently located for checking. The front end of the inbound freight house is twostories high and is utilized for offices. The cashiersoffice, which is on the first floor with that of the cart-age company, has facilities for handling a large volumeof work. On the first floor also are the bill clerks andfreight-house foreman with clerks working in thecashiers office. The general freight office is located onthe second floor, and the local freight agent has there aprivate office. On the average eighty to 100 cars a day are landedout of the east-side terminal of the Detroit UnitedRailway, thus making approximately 2000 to 2200cars per month. This compares favorably with therecord of many a steam line
