Limpet (Patella vulgaris) attached to a rock.

Limpets always return to the same location just before the tide recedes as their shells grow precisely to match the contours of the rock This combined with their strong muscular foot enables to live in the intertidal zone and survive regularly drying out and the force of crashing waves on exposed shores.
