Over the drive between the two shafts a fairamount of stoping has been done in a ferruginous ore body 3ft. to 6ft. wide, carryinggold. Several parcels of ore taken from the workings have been treated atthe Government Cyanide Works, Petersburg, yielding from 14dwts. to gold per ton. At a point 43ft. in the S. drive a winze is in progress, and is down17ft. The ore-bearing material disclosed is ferruginous quartz and clay slate,12in. to 18in. wide on the footwall, with 2ft. to 2ft. 6in. of intrusive rock on top, between the vein of ore and the main hanging-wall. This intrusion in the orechannel is probably local, and may not extend far. To further ascertain its extent, and test the ore channel at a greater depth, the best plan would be to sink a newshaft some distance from the present workings,
