Darlington Street, Wolverhampton, Early 20th cent. A view of Darlington Street looking towards the Queen's Cinema in Queen Square. The Hippodrome Theatre can be seen on the left, and Johnson's the Dyers on the right. The image depicts the fact that at this time, the transition was being made from horse-drawn vehicles to motor cars. Darlington Street was cut through in 1821 and named after Lord Darlington, who later sold the land to the Town Commissioners.
