The main soil for these should be loam or clay, with a good dressing of rotten manure and leaf-mould; if heavy, add a little sand. The soil should be well drained, cool, deep, rich and moist. Plant late in the autumn, claws downward, from 4 to 6 inches apart and 3 inches deep, covering with fine, pulverized soil. If ordered by mail, add 3 cents per dozen for postage. PERSIAN VARIETIES.
