Mines in which the ore occurs wholly or in part inradiolarian chert are the Great Western and Big Chief, in LakeCounty, and the Cloverdale. in Sonoma County. Mines in which the. Minesin which the ore occurs partly or wholly in lava or tuff are theSulphur Bank, in Lake,County; the Manhattan, in Napa County;and probably the Brownlie and Hastings, in Solano County, althoughthe exact nature of the ore-bearing rock of these two mines is as yetin doubt. In Oregon cinnabar is widely distributed, but only one deposit,the metallized fissure zone in andesite at Blackbutte, in LaneCounty, is at present commercially productive. In Washington cinnabar has been found at a few localities inChelan, Kittitas, and Lewis counties. None of the deposits hasyet proved
