When all danger from insects is passed, thin out the plants, leaving three or four of the strongest to each hill. ntPROVED WHITE SPINE. Early Russian. This strain grows from seven to'ten inches long, proportionately thick throughout, being as full at both ends as in the centre. It is a week earlier than the variety known as 'Improved White Spine,'' but retains its glossy dark- green color much longer on the vine.
