Auguste Reverdin34 has proposed a further technical improve-ment, which seems to me to be destined to render good service. Heleaves the catgut for four hours in a sterilizing oven at 284° F. beforeputting it into the oil of juniper and alcohol. He advises one to besure in the first place that the catgut has not been oiled by the man-ufacturer for purposes of preservation.
