CUYLER MANSION— VLIE HOUSE. This house, so called to signify House by the Marsh, was erected by Hendrick Cuyleron the Greenbush shore, about 1770 (some records place it 50 years earlier), and was standing,south 01 Fort Crailo, in good preservation in DUTCH CHURCH AT ALBANY. This is typical of early Dutch religious edifices of New Netherland, and waserected by the first congregation that was instituted at Fort Orange (in 1642),the second in the State of New York. This building, on site of the 1656 woodenedifice, was constructed of brick in 1715, and was removed in 1806 as it stood inthe center of State street at intersection of Broadway, impeding traffic.
