Foliage olive green through the summer, but toward fall it turns much darker and re- mains on the plant for some time after the first Flowers, though hardly us the old variety, are much moreuumerous. The leaves are in pairs along the stem, and from the base of each leaf a ball of flowers appears. There are often as many as ten pairs of these, or twenty balls, on a branch 18 incties long. These balls, as they expand, all face up- ward, so that a full view of their great beauty is always to be had.
