Emporia, Kansas, USA, 11th November, 2014 Members of American Legion Post #5 of Emporia Kansas fire the 3-volley salute that signals the end of the memorial service. Note the flames coming out of the barrel of the rifle 2nd from the 3-volley salute is a ceremonial act performed at military and police funerals as part of the drill and ceremony of the Honor Guard. It consists of a rifle party firing blank cartridges into the air three times.
