Illustration demonstrating cytokinesis (process of cell division) in a plant cell. The sequence runs from left to right, showing the formation of a cell plate (green, horizontal) between two daughter cells formed from nuclear division (mitosis or meiosis). The other cell elements shown here include: the cell nuclei (white), the Golgi vesicles (red), the cell wall (outer layer) and the microtubules (yellow) which make up the phragmoplast complex. This scaffold-like structure is where the cell plate forms that will eventually become the new cell wall between the new cells.
