Street food vendors gather in front of New York City Hall prior to entering the City Council

Street food vendors gather in front of New York City Hall prior to entering the City Council on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. The City Council is voting today to lower the draconian $1000 fines (to $500) imposed by the city for various minor administrative infractions unrelated to health and sanitation. The vendors credit NY City Council Speaker for bringing the bill to lower the fines to the floor and for the majority of votes needed to override Mayor Michael Bloomberg's announced veto.
