Prayer Flag Flies Near Okinawa. Over a Coast Guard-manned LST, the church flag flies as the ship moves to the attack of Jap bases in the Keramas close to Okinawa. Coast Guardsmen and soldiers bow their heads and hear the ship's chaplain ask for guidance in the battle that lies ahead. This photo was made just before the assault on Aka Shima six days before the smash into Okinawa, the principal Jap bastion in the Ryukyus.
