Upon completing- his publicschool education in San Francisco,he entered Stanford University,where he took an active part in stu-dent affairs, serving as editor of theStanford Chaparral. the collegecomic paper, and participating prom-inently in other activities of the stu-dent body. These interests, how-ever, did not divert him from anearnest application to his studies inthe academic course, and he gradu-ated with the degree of A.
