Upmarket supermarket Booths, known to some as ‘the Waitrose of the North’, is reportedly up for sale for between £130m and £150m after reporting losses & poor trading results in the last financial year of million pounds. Based in lancashire the upmarket food store company has been owned by the same family for five generations. Tea dealer Edwin Henry Booth opened the first store in Blackpool in 1847, and since then the chain, which operates in Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, and Yorkshire, has grown to number 28 branches.
