210722-N-WQ732-1084 ARABIAN GULF (July 22, 2021) – Patrol boat USCGC Baranof (WPB 1318), left, and patrol coastal ship USS Whirlwind (PC 11) operate in formation during a maneuvering exercise in the Arabian Gulf, July 22. Baranof and Whirlwind are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
