C. 17 in thk BodleianLibrary, Oxford, with auditions. edited byW. HARRY RYLANDS, preface. rTVHE Manuscript from which the text of this Volume has been taken-*- is now in the Bodleian Library, and is numbered MS. EnglishMisc. C. 17. The thanks of the Society are due to E. B. Nicholson, Esq.,, Bodleys Librarian, for allowing; it to be copied and printed. It was formerly in the library of Peter le Neve, Norroy King of Arms, and was, I think, No. 612 (Twelfth Day) in the sale catalogue. Thelibrary was sold in 1731 by John Wilcox, bookseller in Little Britain, when No. 612 realized eight shillings and sixpence. A note records thatJoseph Smith paid £2 10s. for the volume, when perhaps the nameA. Brooke, that of some former owner, was struck through. Miss E. G-. Parker, who made the copy of the manuscript, tells methat the handwriting of the additions to the Brooke marriage, onfolio 881 (p. 23), seems to correspond with the signature. Other alterationsby the same hand are found on folios 56b (p. 92), 101 (p. 92), 136 (p. 190),etc. A note by the present Librarian rec
