PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 10, 2020) – An F-35B Lightning II, assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 122 also known as the Flying Leathernecks, prepares to take off from the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). VMFA-122 is stationed out of Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) in Yuma, Arizona. Makin Island is conducting routine operations in the eastern Pacific.
