Jl.* DANIEL JACKSON, a native of Connecticut,came in 1797, from near Ithica, New York, to WarrenCounty, Pennsylvania, was the progenitor of the Jacksonfamily of western Pennsylvania; was the first settler inwhat later became known as Conawango township, locatingon Jackson run, about a half mile from its mouth, this runstill bears his name. He built the first saw mill and later the first grist millin the county. The saw mill was completed in 1800, and thefirst raft of pine lumber, about 30,000 feet, to seek a mar-ket down the river from Warren County, was manufacturedat this mill and landed in Pittsburgh in the spring of 1801.
