AUTOMATIC BOILER FEEDER. Feeds water to aboiler on the same principle as the pulsometer. The feeder is placedabout 4 feet above thewater line of the boilerwith water flowing to itby gravity or weight of the wateralternately filling thechambers, carries themdown and opens a steamport in the axial valve tothe boiler pressure, whenthe water flows into the boiler by gravity. At the same time theupper chamber is being filled by the condensation of its steam. It ismade self-acting by having the steam pipe connect to the boiler at thehigh water line, at which point steam can not enter the chamber andthe action stops. The dashpots regulate the motion of the 68 GENERATION OF POWER, STEAM.
