Coronavirus (Coronavirus) is a common term (not a taxonomic name) for the four genera of viruses in the subfamily Orthocoronavirinae: Alphacoronavirus, Betacoronavirus, Gammacoronavirus and Deltacoronavirus. They cause more severe and less serious diseases in animals and humans. In humans, some types of virus cause common diseases (colds), but also more severe viroses. In 2002, a newly discovered Betacoronavirus, called SARS-CoV (newly classified as one of the forms of Severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus), was identified as the causative agent of SARS. In 2012, a new type of betacoronavir, called MERS-CoV (The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus), was discovered, causing a similarly severe MERS disease. At the turn of 2019 and 2020, the COVID-19 respiratory disease epidemic appeared in and around Wuhan, China. The agent is a new type of betacoronavir - SARS-CoV-2, belonging to the same species as SARS-CoV
