Soon after he reached hismajority, he was commissioned a justice of the peace,and from that time to the present his services in thisdirection have been in demand. Mr. Bills life has been a noted one for diversity ofpursuits and for abilit}^ of execution. His counsel isalways in demand, his honesty and faithfulness areunquestioned. As a Patron of Husbandry, he has beenactive and influential, both in the Great Meadow Grangeof which he is a member, and also of his Pomona. Hehas been secretary, master, and chaplain of his grange. April 12, 1866, he was married to Ellen O. Isham ofGilsum. They have had two children,—Clara F. whomarried Walter S. Hutchins of Fichburg, Mass., andJennie L., both of whom inherit largely the Bill c
