Stanley Hall (1844-1924), US psychologist. Hall's full name was Granville Stanley Hall. He worked on educational psychology, and particularly on the psychology of adolescents and how this affected methods of teaching. His major works were Adolescence (1904) and Aspects of Child Life and Education (1921). He also founded the American Journal of Psychology in 1887. Photographed in 1904. This photograph is from the Bain News Service, one of the USA's earliest news picture libraries.
