July 9, 2006 - Group of Chinese tourists protecting themselves from the sun at the ruins of the ancient city of Gaochang near Tulufan (Turpan) in China s Xinjiang province. Gaochang was founded in the 7th Century during the Tang dynasty and became the Uighur capital in 850. The city is sometimes known as Khocho or Kharakhoja.
