Oneof their great opponents was Aed (Hugh) Finnliath (son ofNeill Caille), King of Temhair (Tara), monarch of Ireland,who in 867 gained a victory over the Danes at Lough Foyle,and another, with Conor, King of Connaught, over the FairGentiles who were joined with his nephew, Flann, and otherIrishmen, at Cill ui n Daighre (Killineer), near writer of the Wars of the Gaedhil with the Gall attributesthis victory to Aedhs piety. Aedh seems to have chosenDromiskin as a place of rest after his long and hard strugglewith his countrys invaders, for, according to the ChroniconScotorum, he died at Druim inasglainn on the 12th of theKalends of December, on the 6th day of the week (, 21stDecember) 879.
