The famous Sainte-Mere Eglise church, depicted in the World War II film The Longest Day, which told of the accidental dropping of American paratroopers over the wrong part of Normandy prior to the D-Day landing by Allied forces on Utah Beach on the 6th of June 1944. To remember the incident, a white parachute can be seen hanging from one of the roof edges to the right of the clock.
