St. Benedicts was founded in 1880 and incor-porated as an institution for the higher education of young women,March 23, 1887. RAILWAY AND TELEPHONE CONNECTIONS The main line of the Great Northern Railroad passes throughSt. Joseph, and connections with the Willmar Branch, and also withthe Northern Pacific Railroad, can be made at St. Cloud. Studentscoming for the first time will be met by a Sister at any station in , if notice is given the College sufficiently in advance. TheSt. Benedicts office of the Northwestern Telephone Exchange Com-pany is within the college building. There is also a telegraph office,through which communication may be had with all outside points. BUILDINGS The college is constructed of brick on a basement of stone.
