Roman statue of Pothos. The statue depicts the mythological figure Pothos, one of the minor gods associated with Aphrodite (Venus), the goddess of love. This statue dates from the 2nd century AD, and is a Roman copy of a Greek original by Skopas that was created in 335 BC. Here, Pothos is depicted playing a lyre or zither (kithara). Photographed in 2017, in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.
