Itis certainly poor policy to shut the incubator up in a tightcellar where no fresh air can get to it. In such case thelamp soon exhausts the supply of oxygen and there is noneof that life-giving element for the baby chicks to , first of all, for the absolutely essential fresh air, andthen see to it that a fairly equable temperature is maintainedin the hatching room, to the end that it be not too cold forhandling the eggs in winter nor too warm for the best resultsin summer ; as the chicks have the right to be well-born we should see to it that the conditions are the most favorableto that Fig. 1.
