Griffith, who has been elected vice-presi-dent of the Portland Railway, Light & Power Company,Portland, Ore., and will succeed Mr. B. S. Josselyn, resigned,as president of the com- pany, was born in Minneap-olis, Minn., on Feb. 6, his parents he movedto Oakland, Cal., while stillin his teens. Here he at-tended school and wasgraduated from the highschool and later on fromOakland Academy. Shortlyafter becoming of age hebecame cashier of the Ore-gon Woolen Mills. Hestudied law at night andwas admitted to the has served as legalcounsel in one capacity or. another for the PortlandRailway, Light & Power F. T. Griffith Company for nineteen years, his service previous to the consolidation being with thePortland General Electric Company, which had its powerhouse at Oregon City. Few men possess a broader ac-quaintance among Oregon men than Mr. Griffith, and msadministration of the sixty-fivc-million-dollar property ofwhich he is soon to be the head will without a doubt besuccessful. The Portland Oregonian of April 8, 1913, con-cluded an editorial on Mr. Griffiths election as follows:Mr. Griffith has made an excellent record as a citizen, as alawyer and as attorney for the Portland Railway, Light &Power Company. He has given diligent study to publicservice problems and he knows as well as anybody else therelations of a corporation to its patrons and its duty toserve them satisfactorily and equitably. He is yet a youngman, energetic, conciliatory and capable; and it is the opin-ion of all that know him that he will measure
