The engine-house was built manyyears ago, and is comfortable and com-modious, having the usual dormitory andother rooms and conveniences. Thecompany has an American engine of thefirst class and a Holmes hose wagonwhich carries 750 feet of hose. Thereare five horses in the house. The dis-trict covered on a first alarm is on a linewith Bush street to the ferries and westto Mason street, then following Mason toCalifornia and the sea wall. With a fire record of nearly 315 years,it would be an unnecessary task to re- capitulate all the important fires EngineNo. I has battled with.
