London Eye. Satellite view of central London. The river Thames runs from top left diagonally down to bottom right. At bottom centre is Waterloo train station and the London Eye. The three bridges on the river are, from bottom right; Hungerford Bridge, Westminster Bridge and Lambeth Bridge. The large park at upper right is St James's Park, and at top right is Buckingham Palace. At centre, next to Westminster Bridge, is Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. This image was taken on 25 October 1999 by the Ikonos satellite, the first commercial satellite to collect data at one-metre resolution. The area seen is by kilometres.
