Mitchell from the naval training station in Great Lakes, Illinois to his sweetheart Edna Kessler in St. Louis during World War I. The apron is made from parts of a seaman ?s uniform. The apron is cut from a dress neckerchief, the waistband and ties are from a hatband, and the pocket is made from a 1st class plumber and ship fitter's badge.
