First morning light on Ait Ben-Haddou (also transcribed as Ait Benhaddou). This image taken shortly after sunrise. No color filters or digital color addition used. In the background at the horizon the snow covered mountains of the Atlas. Ait Ben-Haddou is a so called Ksar (fortified village) in the southeast of Morocco. It lies at a small hill at the foot of the High Atlas mountain range. A caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech used to pass this village at the Ounila River. The old town area consists of Kasbahs, fortified houses built from adobe. Ait Ben-Haddou with its earthen architecture is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Several films like 'Sodom And Gomorrah', 'Gladiator' and 'Prince of Persia' have been shot here.
