Fibroblasts are spindle-shaped cells. Fibroblasts produce collagen fibers which form a network constituting connective tissue. Fibroblasts play a very important role in wound healing. These mobile cells can contract allowing tissue repair. They are then called myofibroblasts. Here a transmission electron microscopy section.
