A Scottish saltire being waved by a member of the crowd as a traditional Scottish pipe band marches past during Pipefest Stirling, an event staged at Stirling Castle to coincide with the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn. The event was attended by 1600 pipers, Highland dancers and other musicians and formed a procession through the city's streets. The Battle of Bannockburn took place in 1314 and resulted in the defeat of Edward II's English army by the Scots under Bruce.
