Haso no tsuki-Daruma Bodhidharma, the first Zen Patriarch, known in Japan as Daruma, is the one who, in the 6th century, brought Zen from India to China, from where it spread to the East, in Japan, in the 12th century. He is depicted here next to the walls that were ruined around him during his nine years in meditation.
