See colored illustration on back cover of our retail catalogue, which gives a fair idea of the beauty and grace of this charming flower, which is now offered for the first time. The plant is of South African origin and though introduced into Europe about fifteen years since, its method of propagation was so little under- stood that until quite recently it was difficult to obtain even single plants at high prices. We have now been successful in securing a large stock, and believing it to be the most important and valuable novelty of the year, we have given it a place in colors on our catalogue cover. It is of the easiest possible culture, succeeding admirably and flowering continuously throughout the Summer when planted in an open sunny border in the garden ; in fact it is rarely ever out of bloom, and if placed in a sunny position in the greenhouse during the Winter, such in which Carnations flower freely, it will continue to bloom the year around. The plant is of strong, vigorous growth, forming a dense tuft of leaves from 10 to 12 inches long, from the crown of which it sends up in constant succession 12 to 18-inch high stout stems, which are terminated with single daisy-like flowers, fully 4 inches across, and varying in color in different plants, as well as at different seasons of the year, from bright orange-red and scarlet to deep vermilion ; a rich glowing and, at the same time, entirely new color in this shape of flower ; it really being a scarlet Marguerite. At the Exhibition of the New York Horticultural Society, held in May, 1901, it was awarded the first prize as the most import- ant new plant shown, and we take much pleasure in offering and recommending it. The plant has been under cultivation in our trial grounds for the past five years ; many have seen it, and everyone has been charmed by its novel and striking beauty
