The Telephone Service Carries On, London, January 1942 Incoming messages for bombed out subscribers to the telephone service are received by a team of people on special telephones at the Emergency Telephone Bureau. Short messages are taken by these female telephonists who then relay them to messenger boys who will then deliver them. The women wear brassards with the initials 'OHMS'.
