The Lusitano is a pure breed of horse from Portugal. He was bred for the rough terrain of the Iberian peninsula. Originally used as a brave warhorse and then more recently in the bullring, the Lusitano keeps the compact, highly manoeuvrable, intelligent, brave and agile characteristics. The Lusitano is now more widely used as a dressage or jumping horse.
