Gaspare Aselli, Italian surgeon, illustration


Illustration of the Italian surgeon and anatomist Gaspare Aselli (1581-1626). Aselli is best known for discovering the lacteal vessels of the lymphatic system. He was professor of anatomy and surgery at the university of Pavia, Italy, and later published 'De lactibus sive Lacteis venis' (1627) in Milan. Illustration from 1859.
