The Dublin United Tramways Company has recentlyequipped its Clontarf line, three miles in length, for electrictraction. The track extends from the city limits, along thesea coast of Dublin Bay, to Dollymount, a fashionable resi-dent suburb. The track has been relaid with 7-in. girderrails, the gage being 5 ft. 3 in. Span wire construction isused throughout, supported by iron poles spaced 120 The poles are 29 ft. 6 in. long, built up of 5, 6 and 7-in. steel tubes. The trolley wire is No. o, B. & S., in half-mile sections. The track is bonded with , 30-in. Chicago bonds and cross bonded at short inter-. STATION AND CAR HOUSES. vals. There are two feeders, and at each connection with thesix sections there is a magnetic blowout lightning arrester. The power station is located at the Dollymount end of theline, with the repair shops and the car barns. These build- ings, which were formerly used for stables and barns for thehorse cars, are ft., shown in Fig. i. Fig. 2 repre-sents a view in the engine and dynamo room, showing threeunits, consisting of Mcintosh & Seymour, tandem com-pound engines directly coupled to Thomson-Houston six-pole, 150-k. w., 500-volt generators. The engine cylindersare i li and 23x17 in., and the speed is 200 r. p. m. 1 he gen-erators are the regular General Electric type, capable ofcarrving a temporary overload of 50 per cent. The switchboard, also shown in the illustration, has apanel for each generator with the usual equipment of circuitbreakers, quick-break switches, etc. A Thomson wattmeter
