Wood stork chick at about 4-5 weeks old in profile gazes out from its nest. It has its fuzzy youthful head feathers which will recede as it matures. Even this young the wood stork has a regal and majestic bearing. Ultimately this bird will lose the fluffy head feathers and develop a forehead plate . The neck feathers will recede and go away and a flinty texture will develop for which this species is known.
