MEDITERRANEAN SEA (July 18, 2014) Naval Aircrewman (Tactical Helicopter) 2nd Class Alejandro Rojas, assigned to the Twisted Beavers of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 48, checks safety equipment before flight operations aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72). Vella Gulf, homeported in Norfolk, Va., is conducting naval operations with allies in the 6th Fleet area of operations in order to advance security and stability in Europe.
