Jorge Pina (POR), and Matthew Felton (AUS), competing in the 2019 World Para London Marathon. Jorge finished 8th in the T11/12 Category, in a time of 02:45:35. Matthew finished 6th in the T45/46 Category in a time of 02:45:3.

In 2006, at the age of 30, professional boxer Jorge Pina from Portugal incurred irreparable retina damage during a practice fight. He lost the sight in his left eye and about 70% of the sight in his right eye. When doctors informed him of his predicament, Jorge immediately asked, “Can I run?” and without a pause switched gears to become a marathon runner. Despite his physical disability, Jorge has embraced a new sports career as a para-athlete. He took to the track as a runner and through dedicated training and sleepless determination he has qualified for the London Paralympic Games 2012. In October 2011 he founded the Association Jorge Pina with his close friend and television host Francisco Mendes. This video tells his story, as well as how the World Harmony Run has inspired him. Matthew Felton is committed to raising awareness for those living with a disability. As an Australian para-athlete, who finished sixth in the 2017 Para Marathon World Cup, Mr Felton is determined to leverage his athletic achievements to drive change in the disability sector, aiming to create pathways for children to acknowledge and embrace their disability. Mr Felton holds three national para records (marathon, half-marathon and 10km) and has delivered a series of talks, as well as conducted training and coaching clinics for children living with disabilities. He is also an ambassador for not-for-profit organisation Pluslife Tissue Bank. Off the sporting field, Mr Felton has developed and grown a sales team for Perth-based business Glosswood, which specialises in the supply of sustainable building materials for residential and commercial projects.
