Neptunium (Np). Diagram of the nuclear composition, electron configuration, chemical data, and valence (outer electron) orbitals of an atom of neptuni

Neptunium (Np). Diagram of the nuclear composition, electron configuration, chemical data, and valence (outer electron) orbitals of an atom of neptunium-237 (atomic number: 93), an isotope of this element. The nucleus consists of 93 protons (red) and 144 neutrons (orange). 93 electrons (white) successively occupy available electron shells (rings). Neptunium is an actinide and transuranic element in period 7, and the f-block of the periodic table. Actinides are soft radioactive metals. Neptunium-237, produced in the nuclear fuel cycle, is the most stable isotope of neptunium, with a half-life of million years.
