July is here with its torridity and humidity. Most of the people with the means are leaving or preparing to leave for the shore and the mountain resorts; this includes not a few of the craft. The passing of school graduations, col- lege commencements and weddings robs the market of what has buoyed it up of late and business has now sunk to a low midsummer ebb. The supply of flowers is not large, but ample for the feeble calls. Roses are fewer and of deteriorating quality. Most of them have short stems and the color is not at all good. (Columbia holds up well as a hot weather rose and is still easily the leader of its color. Cut ramblers of such late va- rieties as Dorothy Perkins, Mrs. M. H. Walsh and others are offered, but the demand is not great. Carnations are small and poor and it can scarcely pay growers to send them in. Sweet peas from indoors are done and, the outdoor suj)ply not being large, "nice flowers sell Avell. Of hardy larkspurs there is a heavy supply.
