OConnell Street, one of the Citys oldest thorough-fares, which was originally 18 feet wide, has been in-creased to 33 feet, the work being carried out withthe co-operation of the property owners on the easternside of the thoroughfare. The alterations necessitatedthe removal of Aucklands first wooden house, erectedby the late Sir John Logan Cami)bell, to a new site inCornwall Park.
