Circa 1910 - A British 'Bobby' (policeman), handcuffed to the man he has just home minister, Sir Robert Peel (1778-1850), created London’s first organised police force. Before Peel’s 1829 reforms, public order had been maintained by night watchmen, local constables and red coated army soldiers. The new officers became known as Bobbies or Peelers in reference to Robert Peel. Today's a UK police officer has a number of nicknames including, rozzer, bizzie, the bill,cop,copper,dibble,fuzz, (and others,sometimes more derogatory)
